As electric cars surge, so will demand for public chargers. California has about 838,000
electric cars and plug-in hybrids. By 2030, about 1.2 million chargers will be needed for 8
million vehicles, according to a state report. Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San
Bernardino counties accounted for 40% of the 369,364 battery-powered vehicles registered
in the Golden State. California announced the latest data showing the state's accelerating
transition to zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) and ZEV market dominance %100 by 2035 –
18.8% of all new cars sold last year in California were ZEVs and 40% of ZEVs sold in the

While electricity costs vary greatly, the average cost of electricity in California is about
16.58¢ per kilowatt hour (kWh).2 At this price point, charging a 40–kWh battery with a
150–mile range (Say a Prius) would cost about 4.42¢ per mile (or about $6.63 to fully
charge).
Did you know most Public Charging Stations Charge an Average 27¢-35¢ per kilowatt
hour (kWh), that's almost twice the original cost of electricity, and with no overhead, that
should translate to %100 net profit from an empty parking spot at your complex. And with
Solar Panels powering your EV charging station that adds up to your profits as you pay $0
for Electricity.
